The listing said no accidents and the photos looked clean. When the transporter dropped it off, the rear quarter panel had clearly been repaired and repainted, and it wasn't mentioned anywhere. I still have the funds in escrow and haven't released. I've opened a dispute with the agent. For anyone who's been through this — what actually happens? Do they negotiate a partial release, or does it all go back to me?

Most agents push for a partial release to cover the repair if both sides agree. If the seller won't budge, the funds go back to you and the seller gets nothing — that's the leverage escrow gives you.

Document everything now: photos, the original listing, the inspection report. The agent decides based on evidence, not vibes.

This is exactly why I won't release funds until my mechanic has looked at it. Sorry you're dealing with it, but at least the money is still protected.
